I just received a newsletter email from Joanna Wiebe and she reminded me of Copy Hackers, several e-books that she wrote to help entrepreneurs write better copy. It was just months ago when App Sumo sent a deal about it but at that time, her servers crashed and I couldn’t get a copy in time and let it slip. This time, I decided to purchase her 4 book bundle before her servers crash (just maybe). She is currently selling it for $56.96 on her website and MightyDeals.com is currently selling it for $27 for another 5 days or so. The reason why I bought her books is that I’m a copy geek and I love reading good copy and would stop at every advert and study it.
Just to make a quick comparison, Joanna’s writing style is perfect for start ups and newbies who want to dive into copy writing. I’ve read books on copy by Seth Godin, Gary Halbert and a few others and they are all good books but those books lack one thing: specificity. They don’t address the problems that entrepreneurs face when they write copy for their websites.
Therefore, I must commend Joanna for organizing her book into segments that are easy to understand and fun to read.
At this point I’m still working through book 1 and from what I gather:
1. Writing for the web is using words, typography, punctuation and images to communicate your messages in ways that will engage your visitors.
2.”What you say and how you say it mean very little when it comes to writing compelling, effective web copy. Rather, every message you write needs to be a message your ideal visitors want to see.”
I’m definitely consuming her books from cover to cover and applying the goods for my clients and business.
